Romain Gasmi is a French midfielder who was born in Lyon, France on 15th February 1987. Gasmi began his career with French lower division outfit ASOA Valence before moving to Strasbourg in 2004. Much of his six year spell at Strasbourg was spent playing in the club's reserve side. He made just 15 first team appearances for Le Racing.

On 1st September 2008 Gasmi joined Southampton on loan for a season with a view to a permanent deal. The Frenchman linked up with his former team mate Morgan Schneiderlin, who had also recently joined from Strasbourg. Gasmi made his debut for Saints on 25th November 2008 against Plymouth, replacing David McGoldrick in the 80th minute of a 0-0 draw. He made just two more substitute appearances for the club, in matches with Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest in December, having little time to make any sort of impact.

Gasmi returned to Strasbourg in the summer of 2009, before joining French minnows Monts d'Or Azergues Foot in 2010. In 2011 he moved to Thailand to join Division 1 League side Bangkok United. He ended his first season as one of the league's top goal scorers
