Kyle Critchell is an English defender who was born in Dorchester on 18th January 1987. Critchell began his youth career at Weymouth before moving to Southampton in 2003. His development was significantly hampered after he suffered a leg brake in the 2005 FA Youth Cup semi-final. Critchell failed to make a first team appearance at St Marys, before moving to Torquay on loan for two months in October 2006. On 19th January 2007 Critchell moved to Chesterfield on a free transfer until the end of the season. He was not offered a further deal however, and left the relegated League 1 club in May.

Critchell rejoined Conference outfit Weymouth on 20th June 2007, making his debut for the club against Halifax on 11th August 2007. Critchell had one season with the non league side, before joining Wrexham on 24th June 2008. The defender was hit by injury problems yet again and struggled for first team action, making just two appearances. He was loaned to York and former club Weymouth later in the 2008/09 season. In June 2009 Critchell rejoined Weymouth for a brief spell, before signing with hometown club Dorchester Town in November 2009. The former Saints man scored 3 goals in 2010/11, against Farnborough, Maidenhead and Braintree.
