Chris Johns

Chris Johns is a Northern Irish goalkeeper who was born on 13th May 1995. Johns' father Paddy was an international rugby player. Johns junior was an outfield player as a child before being diagnosed with Osgood-Schlatter disease. He progressed very quickly in his new role, and represented Banbridge Academy, Lisburn Youth and Dungannon Swifts. Johns attracted interest from Sunderland and Southampton in 2009, before eventually signing for Saints. He represented Northern Ireland at a number of levels, before signing a professional contract at Southampton in April 2011. Johns was a regular for the U18s during 2011/12 and 2012/13, and also lined up for the U21s on several occasions. During this time the keeper proved himself to be an excellent communicator and solid shot-stopper.
