Cédric Baseya is a DR Congolese-French forward who was born in Brétigny-sur-Orge, France on 19th December 1987. Baseya began his professional career at Southampton in 2005. The striker had a three game spell at Crewe in November 2007, making his professional debut on 17th November against Northampton. He made his one and only appearance for Saints on 1st March 2008, coming on for Stern John in the 89th minute of a 1-1 draw against Ipswich.
Baseya was called up to play for the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2008, but failed to win his first international cap after the game was cancelled. He later represented the DR Congo at Under 20 level, appearing in a 2-1 defeat to Argentina.
On July 2nd 2008 Baseya joined French side Lille on a free transfer. He made just one first team appearance for Les Dogues in 2008/09, and the following season went on loan to Ligue 2 outfit Le Harve. Baseya returned to Lille in 2010/11, but spent the entire campaign in the clubs reserve side.
On September 21st 2011 Baseya joined Reading on a free transfer. He didn't make a single contribution to the Royals 2011/12 promotion winning season. In November he joined Barnet for a 3 match loan stint.
